Nevada’s Legislative Session Recap

It’s officially a wrap on Nevada's 2025 legislative session—let’s talk about it.

We made real progress in our fight to ensure reproductive freedom for everybody in Nevada this year.

With your help, we mobilized Nevada voters and elected reproductive freedom champions to gain a reproductive freedom majority in the state legislature in 2024.

Because of the champions we helped elect, we were able to successfully advance reproductive freedom bills through the legislature this session.

And, after persistent pressure from our calls, messages, and meetings with lawmakers at Lobby Day, three of our bills were signed into law by Governor Lombardo:

  • AB 176, the Right to Contraception and Family Planning Services Act, blocking the state and local governments from restricting access to contraception and family planning services and allowing Nevadans to sue if this right is violated.
  • AB 235, further safeguarding reproductive health care providers’ privacy by allowing them to request their personal information, such as their home address, be kept confidential.
  • AB 266, supporting Nevadans’ right to breastfeed by increasing public education and boosting existing anti-discrimination laws.

Thanks to our volunteers who sent emails, made calls, and spoke directly with their lawmakers, these three bills have been signed into law.

The Will of the People Versus Governor Lombardo

During this year’s legislative session, we also supported AB 411, a bill that aims to protect abortion providers by allowing practitioners to include their practice’s name instead of their own name on medication abortion prescription labels.

And despite it passing through the state legislature, Governor Joe Lombardo vetoed AB 411, along with several other key reproductive freedom bills.

Despite hundreds of messages from constituents and support from the state legislature, Gov. Lombardo also vetoed:

  • AB 205,  to make it easier for Nevada’s children to gain protective health information during sex education in schools.
  • AB 388, to expand paid family medical leave.
  • SB 217, to significantly expand in-vitro fertilization (IVF) coverage.

The majority of Nevadans and their state lawmakers support expanded access to reproductive health care. Governor Lombardo ignored the will of his constituents when he vetoed these bills.

How We Fight Back Against Governor Lombardo

Gov. Lombardo was the sole person stopping these bills from becoming law.

His vetoes prove we can’t trust him to protect our reproductive rights.

We won’t let voters forget how he ignored constituents to cater to anti-abortion extremists’ interests.

In 2026, both Governor Lombardo and Question 6, the constitutional amendment to protect abortion, are back on the ballot. We’re going to start organizing for 2026 right now.
